Marco Ippolito (Viola) è nato a Alzano Lombardo Bergamo il 30.11.1958. Ha frequentato a Firenze, nei primi anni 1980, la School of Art dell'Università di Cleveland diretta dal genio di Maidof. Momento fondamentale per Marco nella crescita artistica e di coscienza del mondo dell'arte in tutte le sue sfaccettature (pittura, scultura, danza, etch) con contatti e tramite lo scambio culturale e di esperienze personali con giovani provenienti da tutto il mondo: USA, Svezia, Inghilterra, Francia, Germania, Spagna e Sudamerica. Vi è stato poi il momento creativo e di rielaborazione ed introspezione di quanto visto e conosciuto prima nella campagna di Sirmione e poi nel suo studio/officina/casa di Pratello centro e stimolo di incontri e scontri culturali e di visioni artistiche diverse con altri artisti, come avvenuto nella scuola rinascimentale fiorentina, prima e dopo i suoi vari viaggi di incontro con il mondo. Nel 1982 interrompe gli studi per installarsi a Berlino, dove lavora con altri artisti e realizza varie esposizioni fino al 1986. Nel 1987 è a New York. Dall'anno successivo vive e lavora tra Quenca vicino a Valencia in Spagna e la zona del Lago di Garda in Italia. Realizzerà il suo studio e la casa per la famiglia a Buenache de la Siérra, in piena siérra a circa 20 Km da Quenca. Durante la sua vita ha sperimentato con diversi materiali tentando sempre di cogliere l'essenza e il concetto della materia in forme simboliche estreme. Ha sfruttato l'opportunità di vivere il fermento avanguardistico berlinese precedente il 1989, mantenendo sempre uno stretto contatto con l'arte e gli artisti concettuali italiani. Per questo motivo si è autodefinito un nomade in riferimento a materiali ed esperienze.
Marco Ippolito (Viola) was born in Alzano Lombardo, Bergamo, on November 30, 1958. In the early 1980s, he attended the School of Art at the University of Cleveland in Florence, directed by the genius Maidof. This was a pivotal moment for Marco in his artistic growth and in his understanding of the art world in all its facets (painting, sculpture, dance, etching), as he connected with and exchanged cultural and personal experiences with young people from all over the world: the USA, Sweden, England, France, Germany, Spain, and South America. There was then a period of creativity, reflection, and introspection based on what he had seen and learned, first in the countryside of Sirmione and later in his studio/workshop/home in Pratello, which became a hub of cultural encounters and clashes, as well as a space for diverse artistic visions with other artists, similar to what happened in the Florentine Renaissance school, both before and after his various journeys to meet the world. In 1982, he interrupted his studies to move to Berlin, where he worked with other artists and held various exhibitions until 1986. In 1987, he went to New York. The following year, he began living and working between Cuenca near Valencia in Spain and the Lake Garda area in Italy. He would later establish his studio and family home in Buenache de la Sierra, deep in the mountains about 20 km from Cuenca. Throughout his life, he experimented with different materials, always striving to capture the essence and concept of the matter in extreme symbolic forms. He took advantage of the avant-garde ferment in Berlin before 1989, always maintaining close contact with Italian conceptual art and artists. For this reason, he has self-identified as a nomad in reference to both materials and experiences.​
